Follow prevention guidelines to avoid H1N1 (swine) flu

With the continued spread of flu cases in the area and across the nation, it’s important that every member of the UNT community remains informed about ways to stay healthy. Please remember that if you are sick, be sure to limit contact with others.

Check the university web site: www.unt.edu/flu to learn more. The site will be updated throughout the year with important information about H1N1 and seasonal flu, how to stay healthy and how UNT is responding to flu concerns.

Here are tips for staying healthy:
-Avoid close contact with people who appear to be sick or are known to be sick.
-Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you sneeze or cough. If tissue is unavailable, cover your mouth and nose with the crook of your arm.
-Wash our hands often with soap and water.
-Avoid toughing your eyes, nose or mouth to reduce the spread of germs.
-Practice healthy behaviors, such as getting enough sleep, drinking plenty of fluids and eating a nutritious diet.

If you become ill with influenza, the Centers for Disease Control recommends that you stay home and limit contact with others.
