Before we launched this site, we took some time to research what information is being communicated to campus. In order to publish the information in a useful way, we needed to break it into categories.
Having too many categories makes things hard to find, so we tried to keep things simple and broad. We did some tests, and the consensus was that the following 12 categories covered almost all the kinds of information which the Faculty and Staff need to communicate.
Administration
President/VPs announcements - President's Staff Lunch, Fall Convocation, major hiring announcements, etc.
Annual University Events
Events like Homecoming, Honors week, Emerald Ball, and other major events that occur annually at UNT.
Arts and Entertainment
Fine arts, dance, music, movies, theater, and other entertainment options.
Awards, Receptions, and Memorials
Announcements about awards for UNT faculty and staff, retirement receptions, memorial services.
Community and Volunteer Opportunities
Includes charity events like the annual SECC campaign and other community focused activities, and other volunteer activities related to UNT
Conferences, Presentations, and Training
Guest speakers, training sessions, and conference information
Miscellaneous
Process, Policy, and Procedure
Details for specific UNT policies - Human Resources, Purchasing, travel reimbursement policies, etc
Promotions, Contests, and Menus
Promotions, fundraisers, and awareness campaigns, plus advertisements and announcements for Avesta, Campus Chat, etc.
Research, Grants and Fellowships
Announcements, events and deadlines for items related to research, grants and fellowships
Sports, Health, and Fitness
Athletics, intramural sports, Pohl Recreation Center news, heath advisories.
Surplus for University Use
Items to be distributed for re-use on campus
